Some friends of mine just started a new company! Eric, the guy who did our tile, had been talking about starting a business when he was at our house. We said "GO FOR IT!" Stephany is one of my favorite brides (and now good friend)'s sister! She and Clint have been together forever and right after this impromptu session, their entire families boarded a cruise ship to watch them get married and then partied for a week on the Carribean!! Her dress is gorgeous (an unfortunately, she spilled chocolate wedding cake down the front and it's not being cleaned! HA!)

They both did really well! I photoshopped the crap out of myself b/c now I realize that I HATE being on that side of the camera--I am NOT photogenic at ALL! Dobie High School Cheer Squad

About a month ago, I had an awesome time with the Dobie High School cheer squad! They wanted some different kind of roster pictures, and my friend Leslie is the sponsor, so we all hooked up and got some really awesome shots! We didn't have alot of time, and we were pretty rushed in getting all the girls in, but I think we did great considering we were all tired and hungry! Next time, we'll schedule each girl individually for 30 minutes, but we lived and learned through our first time out!

I want to thank the girls for being patient with me, as well. I've had a really rough month and a half, and I am sorry the poster and this post took me so long to get to you guys! Remember to give Miss Leslie your photo number of the image that you liked the BEST for your 5x7 and wallets!

Jackson ended up being my assistant, and I must say, other than hitting my model with the reflector, he might just have a career in the photo industry someday....maybe.

I love families. I love them at weddings, I love them in their home, I love my own very much. I love watching families interact. I will never admit to being great at family photography, but I love doing it. I notice everything--the way that the daughter takes on her father's laugh and grin and personality....the way that the grandson has the same cheesy, cute, sweet toothy grin that grandpa has...and is just as onery! Every family is different, and cute, and fun....and I love capturing that moment, that memory "Remember when that lady came to our house...." "I loved the boys in these shirts...." "Wow, look at how different they look in just 2 year's time..."

THAT'S what I love. Again, I will never say that I am good at photographing families. I think I am just plain good WITH families. I have fun with them...it's about the experience as much as it is about the photos.

With ALL of that said, meet the wonderful Wallace family. They were one of my first families. Back when I really didn't know how to handle 3 rambunctious boys and get their attention! But I learned--FAST! Carson is 10, Ian is 8, and little Mitchell is 5. It's been over 3 years since I shot this family...and they have grown! Even the DOG!!

I got to hang out with the boys (all of which were polite and calm and listened VERY well--I think Mom threatened them to not get sweaty, so they were calm! HA!) before their grandparents arrived. They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and Mrs. Amy wanted a portrait of the two of them to commemorate. I love that, too.....something for generations later to see and wonder and admire.

I had the best time with Nicole and Nathan! They are so excited to meet little Miss Pierson Grace--don't you just LOVE that name?! Funny thing is that Adam and I have considered Pierce and Pierson if we have another boy! Jackson and Pierce...I love it!

And let me tell you about Miss Pierson's room---GOR-GEOUS! Her mommy and friends made this room SUPER cute and trendy and ALL black and white and pink...I loved it!! Awesome!

And the cute shirts! She had an entire table full of these tanks with cute sayings on them! They made for some fun, rock star pics! Thank Nicole! See you at the birth!

Joel + Jodi Wedding

My last wedding of the summer...the sweetest wedding to date. Small, intimate, personal, enveloped by the Lord, and the most blessed, happy couple I have really ever seen. A couple that had only gotten officially engaged just 2 weeks before the wedding! HA! (I was booked about 1/5 months out, though, so Joel knew, obviously! I love it!) I had known Joel b/c he is a partner in the firm that did our mortgage--people whom we have become friends with now that they know all our personal information/salary/cost of our home/etc since we've used them twice now! HA! But Jodi, I met the day of the wedding. Jodi is this little ball of energy and smiles and just full of love for her man! In getting ready, she held this little baby bonnet. It was Joel's as a baby and his mother gave it to her to carry that day--and she never put it down (only to let me photograph it!) In getting ready, she listened to a tape of Joel preaching--to calm her down. She said the sound of his voice was soothing to her.

I forgot to mention: Joel's Dad is pastor of the church! 1st Baptist in Pasedena (right on the corner at Fairmont--the big one!), so when I say they were blessed, I meant it. Joel's father and brother performed the ceremony. And when I say that there was not a DRY EYE IN THE CONGREGATION--there wasn't. Not even mine. I balled like a baby. They were just so meant for one another, and you could just SEE it and FEEL it in that church that day.

The rain and the storm and the near power-outaged did not deter from the vows. Sweet, simple, meaningful. I have never seen two people say their vows with more passion and grace. They were not just words....again, the crying on my part.

After the ceremony, they had a small reception with cake and punch for about 45 minutes...then snuck away. Really, just wanted to sneak out the back door! They were on their way to Arlan's market (you know, the little grocery store across from the Endeavor) to get TV dinners. Seriously. That was their meal of choice. They do that nearly every night, and they didn't want to change a thing! So I followed and we got some cute shots in the shopping cart!

And the RAINBOW! God was trying to apologize for all the thunder and lighting during the ceremony, and we got some great shots out of it!

Again, the sweetest, nicest, more adorable couple....congrats you two!!

Cory Thompson sang during the ceremony--the man can sing. His voice is blessed by angels. I cried just listening to him warm up. I mean, he can sing! Holy Cow! If you want someone with a jaw dropping voice to sing at your ceremony, call me, I'll hook you up! HA!

Jonathan + Sarah Wedding

Okay, typically, my favorite images from a wedding are the getting ready shots. I LOVE the anticipation, the shear nervousness, the fun times with the wedding party...the dress, the shoes, the makeup, the jewelry, the flowers....ahhhhh. The ceremony is pretty boring to photograph--not that I don't cry when each of my brides walks down the aisle, or sob during vows they wrote themselves....but I usually have to just stand in the back and not make a PEEP, so that get's kinda boring to me. Sorry. The formals, are, well, formals...posed, cheesy, traditional....unless the bride let's me get creative! And the reception is usually fun if there is dancing or alcohol (and if I'm lucky, BOTH...that's when the images get REALLY fun!)

But for this wedding, my favorite shots were the formals and the reception! Odd, I know, but you have to know these two! Sarah is a calm, cool, fabulous girl, and Rhodes is a freaking ham. He's pretty quiet, not boistrous, but funny as hell!! Naturally funny...the kind where you don't even have to try hard and you make people pee themselves.

So, after the getting ready was over, and then the ceremony was over, we headed to the Hotel Galvez in Galveston, and that's when the party started! It started during the formals. It was HOT HOT HOT...and they were so great in letting me try some new things...and we even got a few couple shots before Rhodes melted.

The reception, I KNEW, was going to be good b/c they hired the Mambo Jazz Kings....hands down, the BEST band for weddings. PERIOD. So the first dance started, "Islands in the Stream"...my kinda people! And then, the fun happened. And I mean FUN! These people know how to party and dance and weren't afraid to shake their grove thang--EVERYONE. Not a shy guest at this reception! And they weren't all drunk---they were high on wedding life! I have NEVER had this much fun--okay, maybe, but I had fun just WATCHING the people! And you can see from the pictures!

Day After Session

Baby Anna

This, my friends, is baby Anna Malee Greenway! Born July 16th, 2008 at 3:30pm via emergency c-section. She weighed 7 lbs 9 oz: 20 inches long. She is a whole bundle of perfection! She has Malee's lips and nose, and Chris' eyes and forehead!

I headed up to the hospital on Friday afternoon. Malee looks AMAZING! She's hurting a little, but that's expected! Anna is nursing like a pro! During her labor, Malee said she dilated to 10 and pushed for 2 hours. Unfortunately, Anna could not get over her pelvic bone and was sunny side up, so they went in after her. Once she was out, she had severe bruising on her forehead and blisters on the top of her head--poor baby! She looks great, though, and everything looked like it was healing fine! Isn't she just perfect! Perfect skin, perfect tiny nose, perfect angel lips--Great job you two!! She's adorable!

I wish you all the best in the next few days! It's surreal, but its wonderful! Congrats to the happy FAMILY!! Be watching for more pics this week, our family will be heading to their house to get some more pictures of this little angel!!

After starting the day off on a rocky note (her hairstylist had quit and didn't call to tell her) it ended up being a blessing in disquise b/c her hair came out better than it did for her bridals! YEAH! The wedding was gorgeous (the church was amazing) and short and sweet. We got to do TONS of pics before the wedding which was GREAT! I love it when I have TIME!! We danced the night away and the groomsmen did the FUNNIEST thing--for their getaway, they wired the brakes to the horn, so every time John touched the brakes, the horn would blare!! Hysterical!! They came back and fixed it before they were off for the night, but I must say, that was the best "decorating" of a getaway car that I have EVER seen!! And the videographers--my goodness! They were great and super nice and I'm sure they do great work (www.aristamedia.com)!

Also: take note of the "many faces of John Sehon IV!" I love it!! They both have the best smiles!!

Lake Tahoe

Ahhh...how refreshing! I am on the move to making books and finishing bridals in a completely new outlook on my business! I took a much needed vacation--a break from the computer if you will--to Lake Tahoe with some friends. Adam and I actually got a chance to be a newlewed couple again, and as much as I missed my Jack Jack, it was nice to do grownup things again.

We stayed a day/night in Reno (which I would not recommend to anyone, yuck!) and caught a glimpse of a new movie being filmed, Love Ranch. Okay, I got more than a glimpse--I took some pics before I got scolded!

When we got to Tahoe the next day, the weather was GORGEOUS!! We hit the slopes that afternoon, and I must say, for not having skiied in about 3.5 years, I picked it right up! We skiied again on Friday at Squaw Valley (home of the 1960s Olympics)--amazing! After a LONG day of being on the mountain and getting snowed on, we had a sushi dinner/snack--which made me super duper sick! I stayed in bed the rest of the night in the fetal position while our crew partied and drank and ate without me--I physically could not move or I know I would throw up! Uhhhhg...

The best day was on Saturday. Adam was supposed to go skiing, and I was supposed to have the day all to myself--but plans changed and we headed to Heavenly together! We took in all the art galleries, did some shopping, drank coffee, and just wandered aimlessly--and went to a MOVIE! Something we have not done in about 3 years! We were on no time frame, no rush. It was "Heavenly!" On the way back, we snapped some pics for the walls.

There is so much more to write about, I just don't have time. I have BOOKS to finish! Currently, I am finishing the Crawford book and getting started on the Halbert book, then Hillary's book, then Wade and Lauren's book....so bear with me!

This past week, I spent the most amazing week ever photographing some of the most interesting/fascinating/fun/creative seniors in the Clear Lake area. All 32 of them. I really got to know each of them on their own level--each with their own story/history/goals/etc. Honestly, getting to know each of them has been the highlight of my year as far as photography has gone.

All we had to work with was a SUPER old auditorium, but I think we got some really kick ass shots in the super short amount of time we had with each kid (a mere 30 minutes!) Hillary + Will's Christmas wedding was absolutely amazing! I have never seen a wedding like this one--from the custom-made dresses, the Jimmy Choo shoes (to die for) the dueling pianos during cocktail hour and the professional male models guarding the reception hall before it's reveal--freaking amazing! And the party!! My gosh! The dancing was off the hook! I have never danced so much in my life while working--I love my job!

A few weeks ago, I got to hang out and photograph Sarah and Jonathan! I met them through my best friend Lindsay and they are a fabulous couple! We had a blast downtown during their session--other than the Muslim march/protest that was going on with all the singing and dancing and bullhorns...it was pretty fascinating to see! Robyn Maternity

Robyn and I went to Sam Houston State together, and are sisters in Alpha Delta Pi! I saw her at our friend Lindsey's wedding and she asked me about pregger pics--and this weekend we got to meet up and spend some time shooting that pretty belly of hers!! Inside is Miss Abilene James (Baby Abbie). Robyn and her hubby, Jimbo, lived in Abilene, Kansas for about a year, not far from where I grew up! I think it's such a cute name!! Hanegan Family

Adam and Wade were Big Bro/Lil Bro in their frat, Delta Tau Delta. They were roommates for 2 years. They were/are in each other's weddings. Wade was the first person, other than family, to hold and meet Jackson in the hospital. And finally, after lots of talking about it, I finally had a chance to photograph Wade's entire family at their lake house at Sam Raburn! It was great! Right after Thanksgiving, we headed up to Brookeland, Texas to meet up with the entire Hanegan gang! Robert, Diane, Wade, Katie, and Valerie...and then the two (soon to be) family members, Lauren and Jordan! Unfortunately, it was COLD COLD COLD and RAINED the entire time we were there....uhhg. But I think we got some great shots anyway! After making the entire family go outside in the cold and drizzling weather, teeth chattering, we got a few shots on their amazing patio. Then, it was time for relaxing and eating and playing with Jackson! Their log cabin home in amazing--cement floors, a giant cedar wood staircase, tons of room--and pretty much baby proof (other than the stairs) Although it rained, we had a great 2 days with them. We ate catfish and hush puppies, watched KU get beat, and chit chatted about all the up coming nuptials (which I get to photograph!! Yeah!) They are the nicest family! Thanks for the mini-getaway! It was great while it lasted!!

Joan + Andrew Wedding

I was referred to Joan by a good friend of mine, Ms. Delee D'Arcy. And I am ever thankful. This was one of the BEST weddings I have shot! The love, the family, the venue, the flowers, the MUSIC, and all in just 3 short hours. Joan and Andrew "found each other later in life" as they said in their vows, but you wouldn't know it. You know when you can just look at people and KNOW they are soul mates? That's them! They are like little kids together--laughing and giggling and smiling (even in their eyes) They couldn't stop staring at each other, all day. And before the ceremony, they were both a BALL a NERVES, but the second they saw each other at the bottom of the stairs, before they walked down the aisle TOGETHER, you could just tell they were in a "bubble" (as I describe the feeling to my brides) Nothing else mattered but the two of them. I had only just met them, and I cried during their vows. EVERYONE in the room was mesmorized by them. Joan wore an amazing, yet simple, Ann Taylor gown with a gorgeous pale pink jacket over top--very Jackie O. And like I said, we got everything done, smoothly, in only 3 hours. Unbelievable! Miss Sara, at Sara's Inn is amazing and great at her job as wedding coordinator! Highly recommend her! And the DJ, Oskar with Overtime Productions kept the dancing going!! So much fun! I wanted to thank everyone for such a great year, thus far! I have been super busy and it's because of the amazing referrals from all of my loyal customers! A HUGE thanks! And it's because of all of you, and your understanding, that I am able to work from home, spend quality time with my son, and provide an additional income for my family. For that, I am truly grateful.

At this point, I am no longer booking for December. Those that have contacted and booked as of today, are on the schedule. All other bookings will be scheduled for January.

I am taking this time to spend and ENJOY my family, husband, and baby boy during the Christmas Holiday! I want to decorate my house, shop, bake, sing Christmas carols, travel to see family, etc!! Thank you in advance for your understanding, and I can't wait to see you all in January!!

Meet the Fudickars/Scarboroughs/Christophersons....and everyone in between! This is what happens when families grow up and get married and others join the group--the names get all mixed together!! Ha!! I shot Kelli and Cory's engagements a few months back, and now that the two oldest boys are going overseas for duty in about a month, they thought it was time for a family portrait with the whole gang! They were the nicest family--sometimes when you get that many people together to get their pictures taken, everyone gets tired and a little crabby near the end, but not them! The margaritas were flowing and the so was the laughter!! We got shots in between the game on TV, chit chatted with the ladies in the kitchen, and even did a few clothing changes--all without anyone complaining (at least not while I was there to hear!) I tried to make it very relaxed, and I think we got some great, casual shots! Here are my favs...

This family has graced the blog before, when Minnie was just a little baby! Shawn and my hubby grew up together and all four of us went to college together--and Minnie is only 2 months younger than Jack Jack. So, when they called to have their Christmas pictures taken, we made it a playdate! Although Jackson thought Mindy was hot stuff, she only wanted to flirt and laugh with Adam (hands off girlie, he's taken!) We got a FEW shots of Mindy in her Pumpkin costume--but she really wasn't having it. SHE DOESN'T LIKE THE PUMPKIN MOMMY!! But it's really cute--sometimes you have to suffer to be cute, Mindy! We put Jackson in his giraffe costume to see if Mindy would respond to that, and the response was "Why are you dressed like a Giraffe, stupid?" and looked at him with a blank expression--she was not impressed! The last picture sums it up and cracks me up every time I look at it! Here are my favs:

I love this couple! They were willing to do whatever I said, I couldn't get them to stop gazing lovingly into each other's eyes, and they kissed ALOT! They truly love each other and it's really fun to see such emotion from two people--and it wasn't even their wedding day! I can't imagine the sparks that will fly that day! And the camo--John's an avid hunter, and the camo suited them! I loved it! Amy and I graduated from SHSU together--we were both photo majors, so this was extra fun because she just let me run with my creative side! Here are a TON of my favorites!!

Pregnant women are cute. To look at them, they glow. The just seem to light up the minute you say, "Oh, look at that belly!" They are excited to talk about the baby, the pregnancy...it just makes them happy. Especially first time mommies. And, that is what Sophia is. A first time preggers, soon to be mommy! You might remember Jose and Sophia from their engagement session I did about a year ago--and as life goes (first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby...you get the idea) she was bound to call me with the news of a little bundle of joy on the way sooner than later! This is my fourth bride to find out she was pregnant, and I love the fact that I get to document such times in their lives. Kelly needed some quick shots of her and her lab, Jackson, for Halloween cards for her clients. She is a pharmaceutical sales rep for pediatricians, so this was totally appropriate! And super cute! And being that she is just so ridiculously gorgeous--an absolute natural in front of the camera--we were done in 25 minutes! And that was WITH chasing Jackson around the park!!

Meet Olivia and Kate. They are the sweetest (and a little shy) girls! And look how gorgeous they are! Olivia has that amazing red hair and deep aqua marine eyes--absolutely beautiful! And little Kate is just a ham with the cutest smile and the prettiest hair! I just couldn't get over how pretty they are! Their cousin, Fiona, stopped by for a few pics as well, and she was just mesmerized by everything going on around her--too cute! And I love the UT shirts--that was for Daddy!

This is, by far, one of the most loving families I've been around in a while. There are 3 kids under 5--Jacob(5), Emma(3), Zachary(2)--and their parents just adore them! You can totally tell that they love their kids so much! And being 5, 3, and 2, I know how hard it is to sit still for some lady that you don't know who's telling you what to do--but they did so well, considering!! Although we didn't get TONS of great shots, I absolutely adore the candids of the "tickle" session we had at the end of the session! Just look at their faces! For that short amount of time, even the kids had a fun time getting shot! And mom and dad were just happy that they were distracted from riding the train (which did not open for another hour!) Super cute!

Bryant Senior Session

I love this kid! He cracks me up, for one, and he's really natural in front of the camera (which always makes my job more fun and easy!) This senior from Louis, TX met up with me and my fam downtown for a totally urban/metro/modern session--something a little different from everyone else in his hometown! It really was one of the most relaxing, laid back, fun sessions I've had in a while. Despite the onset of rain looming over us all day, the images turned out kick ass! And even if it did rain, no problem, because Bryant claims "he's sexy wet, too!" I'm telling you, this kid kept me laughing the whole time! Here are (alot) of my favs:

Jeff + Lindsey Wedding

They are officially Mr. and Mrs. Davis! The weather was perfect. We started out the morning with a bridal luncheon at Taverna--a new little winery/restaurant in Conroe on the loop. We ate a great little brunch, then Lindsey, my sister/assistant, Stacey, and I jumped in the car and headed to Bella Renova in the Woodlands for hair and makeup. Then, back to the AMAZING reception site--The French Quarter. Jeff is a sales rep for the development and this great little place is the club house. It was perfect! Cool black and white floors, teal walls, an infiniti pool, fountains, and the outstanding view of Lake Conroe--it was a great place for a sunset wedding. The gospel choir that sang accapella during the ceremony were a great little touch! And the flowers! My God! Lindsey's mom is a florist in the Dallas area--the place SMELLED and LOOKED amazing with all the gorgeous flowers! You should have see the "cooler" room downstairs that housed the "floral shop"! Her mom did it all-the centerpieces, the bouquet, the ARCHWAY!! She rocks!

I can finally post about this bridal session! Lindsey is officially Mrs. Davis! Although our bridal session was a little rough--neither of us was having a good day! From the hairstylist taking 3 hours to do her hair, then traffic and highways being closed, we started 2 hours late. Then, as I was bustling her dress, I broke the freaking bustle! I barely touched the little circle of beads tied with a string, but the beads all came out in my hand! I felt awful! Literally, we were both having off days, but we managed to get a FEW shots that would work, and here they are:

I got to photograph this cute family on Saturday morning, on one of our trips to my husband's hometown of El Campo. For the past 3 months, we've been trying to get into the corn fields and cotton fields with this precious baby girl, but with all the rain, it hasn't happened! The Hoover's were nice enough to let us use their property to get some shots of the happy parents (they didn't get engagements done, so we made up for lost time!), the family, and the gorgeous Adddyson, 4 months old! Isn't she a looker! She was an excellent sport--never once cried or fussed or gave me a bad look! So cute! We even got to hang out with a bull and then watch her pee--her name was Daisy! She's their pet bovine (I think that's what they're called? Not sure--I'm a city girl! My hubby--country boy! You know what they say about opposites!)Here are my favs:

After fighting traffic, I finally made it to The Woodlands for Hillary and Will's engagement session. This is the aunt of Jackson's birthday twin, Delaney! Hillary and Will live in Mississippi where Will attends med school (studying the brain), and Hillary is getting ready for law school! A doctor and a laywer--what more could you want in your family! One of each! We had so much fun--although with all the driving out to the barn and then back to Market Street, we all got a bit tired and hungry, but I'm glad we got the images at the barn perfect--love the lighting and the foliage! Labor Day Weekend

Last weekend, Adam wanted to go fishing. That's all I heard about all weekend. We had the MOST RELAXING couple of days. I did not turn my computer on, and hadn't even touched my camera until he convinced me to go with him and "watch". Yup, doesn't that sound like fun!? So we invited my Dad along too, and left Jack Jack and Grandma and Aunt Tacey at the house. On the way down there, I thought, "We are going to Texas City--there is NOTHING in the world to photograph." So I whined a little, and Adam stopped so that I could buy some trashy gossip magazines. When we got to "the spot", I took out my camera and played around with the built in settings: contrast, saturation, sharpness, etc. Here are some of the images I took--they are right out of the camera with no Photoshop! Nothing exciting, just some stuff I saw while wandering around on the shoreline in Texas City....

I had the opportunity to shoot my husband's best friend, Wade, and his fiance, Lauren, on Saturday! We've known Wade a long time. My hubby and him are fraternity brothers (big and little) were roommates, in our wedding party, and been very involved with our family and my little one! We love him so much! He is marrying the sweet sweet Lauren in January! She truly is a blessing for him. They are so cute together and so much in love. Seeing Wade as the perfect gentleman and so caring with her is awesome! I love seeing Adam's friend's "grow up" from the crazy party days of college to the mature business/family men they are becoming! Ha! Welcome to the family Lauren! Camden's 1st Birthday

This Saturday, we headed to El Campo for my nephew's 1st birthday. Camden had an Elmo birthday with an adorable cake with almond icing (yummy!) He got lots of fun stuff--lots of cars and monster trucks! Oh, and BUBBLES! Marley and Jackson really liked those! They also both liked the pool (although it was freezing--they didn't care!) Jack and Marley played in the water for a long time in their "skivvies"(although we had their stuff in the car, they weren't about to wait for us to change them), then Camden joined in his trunks for a bit. A few weeks ago, after Jackson's birthday, my mom and dad, Stacey and Adam and I decided to go to see Roger Creager at Big Texas. And then, Elizabeth wanted to go too, so we made a group event out of it. Our friend Greg was still in town before his 1st deployment to Afghanistan, so a BUNCH of us headed out to dance and DRINK DRINK DRINK! This is also the night I got my new little camera so I was taking a lot of "self" pictures!

I'm sure Jen and Anthony are tired of seeing me! At least maybe the kids are! Ha! I have shot this famiy (and their friends) alot lately. I love referrals! It all started with Kelly and Cory, then Jen's Family the Goodwins, then the Bruner girls, then the Schrock Family, now the Arriagas! This is Anthony's side of the family--and I love them! They are Italian and have the greatest accent when they speak. I could listen to them chat for hours. There are 14: Mario and Christina, Alex and Camille, Jen and Anthony and their girls Abby and Avery, Kurt and Jen and their kids Brendan and Madison, and Mike and Julie (who are getting married December 1st! Congrats)I think I got them all! Anyway, they are the nicest family and bared with me during this Texas heat wave we have going on (although you would never tell that they were all sweating their @$$es off--they are so pretty!)
