9/11

Today is the 5th anniversary of the 9/11 attack and for some reason I feel the need to talk about it. I've been watching the tv all morning, reliving that day...I wasn't in New York at the time, although I know EXACTLY where I was and what I did that day. It's amazing how your life changes, and yet things like this can take you back in a heartbeat. I wasn't dating Adam, wasn't married, didn't have a baby....I was a college sophomore, an RA at Smith Hall, a photography student with big dreams. I remember waking up to someone yelling "We're getting bombed!" I had no idea what that meant, but I did know that I didn't believe any of it. I spent the entire day, in my PJs, on my tiny, uncomfortable love seat in my dorm room, watching my 13" television, crying. I didn't go to class. I don't think I even answered my phone. I just couldn't believe all that tragedy was going on in our country--who attacks the U.S.?? Two years later, I went to New York, to interview for an intership with Maxim magazine cover photographer Antoine Verglas, to look for an apartment, and see what living in New York would really be like...and we went to ground zero. It was nothing like the reports on TV...it was a huge cement slab with huge fences surrounding it....cold. No memorials, no visible sign that anything had existed there...it was empty. And the worst part was that there were TONS of street vendors trying to make a buck off of something so horrific.

I see the attacks differently today. I see them as a mother...and I start crying. I think of them as a wife...and I can't imagine. It absolutely breaks my heart to think of what those mothers, fathers, husbands, and wives are going through...those that lost a loved one that day. Not being able to hold my baby boy again, or to kiss my husband again...it's eye opening. Before, I was mad about what happened, but today, I am irrate. To know that someone took all those precious moments away from some mom or wife pisses me off....but it makes me cherish every moment with my own family because you absolutely never know what the next day is going to bring...so my advice for the day is, hug your kids and kiss your spouse and be greatful that it wasn't you in those buildings or on those planes...and then say a pray for those families that were.

Marley Lane

This is my onery niece Marley. She will be 2 years old in November...she's absolutely crazy! You can't be around her without laughing!

New Logo

Hey everyone! I am re-creating Ramie Babcock Photography...new logo, new colors, new images, etc. I am needing some input on my new logo. I am having a designer create it for me, and I need to get back with her on where to go from here, just not sure which one I like the best! Ignore the funky colors--they are just a scan....

Trent + Andrea

Over the weekend, Trent and Andrea and I headed to Kemah to got their engagement shots done--it was sooo hot! But we got some really great shots! Trent told me at the beginning of the shoot that he didn't like getting his picture taken--by the end of the day, that was far from the truth! He was a great sport! I can't wait for their wedding on September 30th! Such a sweet couple!

Andrea Sutton

Andrea is marrying Trent on September 30th! After getting off to a rocky start, and praying that we would not get rained out, we hurried and got some really great shots! Her dress was so poofy--I LOVED it! The veil she is wearing is an heirloom from her Aunt's wedding, 25 years ago...still gorgeous as ever! I can't wait to shoot their engagement pics next weekend...

Wendy + Danny

When I met my husband, I was also introduced to a wonderful person, Ms. Wendy Bain. She has been one of Adam's good friends for years, and she is getting married November 18th to Mr. Danny Crane! Together, they are alot of fun and you can really see how in love they are! Here are some of my favs from their engagement session this past weekend in El Campo:

If you have checked out the website lately, its a little lacking! I relaunched the site a few months before I had Jackson, and never got around the finishing it (ex. Wedding I and II are empty links!) So, I am on a mission to RELAUNCH the site in a couple of weeks! I am changing my brand colors, my logo, and most of the images will be NEW!

Bella Skye

I worked for the first time since the baby arrived! I did a photo shoot in Kingwood, Texas for Lois Vance. Lois was my sorority chapter advisor at Sam and I became very close to her over the years that I was there. Since then, she has become a grandmother to 3 of the prettiest little girls--Gracie, Allie Rose, and Bella Skye. Bella Skye lives in Colorado, so we needed to get lots of shots of her and her family! Solstice

My dad got a new toy a few months back--the "bitch" as my mom refers to it! It's a Pontiac Solstice. He ordered it a few months back and it FINALLY arrived in April! They are making very few of them, so you have to get on a waiting list. Unfortunately for me, it's a stick shift and I can't drive a stick--bummer. The 'rents went on their first car rally a few weeks ago to Austin, and dad has been to a few car shows with his "baby"! I have been meaning to shoot him with his car, just never got around to it, but I caught some artistic vibes at one of the car shows and wanted to post some of the shots I really liked. I plan on shooting some with my dad in the future.

Jevon + Julie (Part 1)

Over the past few months, I have become very good friends with some of the nicest people--Julie & Jevon. I have been fortunate enough to photograph all aspects of their wedding: engagement, bridal, wedding. After booking, we found out that it is a VERY small world--we all went to the same university, partied at the same hole-in-the-wall bar, knew the same people, yet never knew each other! So shooting their wedding was not work for me: it was watching two friends express the greatest show of love. I just started processing the first part of their wedding--here are some of my favorites so far.
